Oooh, La, Lashes!

How to get full lashes

by Izzi F.

We’ve all seen them…the girls in the mall who have full, black, amazing lashes that look like they came straight out of a magazine. Well, I have good news for you!  One can’t exactly get the photo shopped lashes that are present in mascara ads, but we can get pretty close! Read on to get great lashes!

What you’ll need: A black or dark brown eyeliner pencil, mascara, and eyelash brush.

To start:  Take your eyeliner and draw a thin line on your lash line starting from the inner corner of the top eyelid to the outer corner.

--When you apply eyeliner, do NOT apply it in one single line; instead, draw several short lines as you go across your lid. This way, you won’t have an uneven line and it will also blend better.--

As you get near the outer area of your lid, apply the liner heavier and darker. Also, increase the fine line to a thicker line as you get closer to the outside of the lid.

Next, take your eyelash brush and separate the top and bottom lashes. This does make your lashes fuller by separating each lash!                                                    Now you are ready for mascara!                                                                                                                                              First, place the wand near the roots of the eyelash so you’ll get the whole length of the lash. As you bring the wand up to the tips of the lash slowly blink into the wand. This technique makes sure you get every single eyelash!

Wiggle Away! Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of the lashes. It’s the mascara placed at the roots—not the tips—that gives the illusion of length.  Wiggle the wand up and through the lashes. Wiggling is the key: it separates the lashes.   Also try rotating the brush in a full circle to get those amazingly full eyelashes!

Remember to apply two coats. Don’t wait in between coats, otherwise you will get clumps. During both coats apply more mascara to the outer lashes than the inner lashes. When you are finished take your wand and coat the tips of your lashes to define them.

That’s it! You now have Oooh, La, Lashes that are dazzling! Don’t worry if you don’t get it perfect on the first try…practice makes perfect!

TIP: Try to avoid putting black mascara on your bottom lashes. It will highlight the bags under your eyes.  If you do swipe it on the lower lashes, remember to apply it lightly! Also, try brown or clear mascara on them instead of black.
