The Central Lyon Community School District is located in Rock Rapids, IA, and also serves students from Doon, IA. Rock Rapids is the county seat of Lyon County, has a population of 2500, and is only 35 miles east of Sioux Falls, SD and 55 miles west of the Iowa Great Lakes.

Central Lyon students were identified as high performing by the Iowa Department of Education in 2019, while the average ACT score for members of the Class of 2019 was 23.9 – more than 2 points better than the state average. Central Lyon offers outstanding fine arts opportunities along with a host of co-curricular programs for students of all ages and competes in the Siouxland athletic conference.
