The year was 1985. The place-Merrill
Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, a small town of about
2,000 people. What happened on Nov. 2 of that year that would
change the face of history for that town and - arguably- a
three-mile radius around it? Jan and Bruce brought forth
their second edition, Adam. He was not alone, however.
His older brother, Brad, would be a constant source of
inspiration (and sometimes irritation) in Adam's life.
The life of which I speak has been one of non-stop athletic action. Football, baseball, basketball, and track occupied Adam's after-school time all four years of high school. With such a rigourous schedule set before him, it surprises people that he finds time to be in FFA and his church youth group.
He has had a great athletic year. He received such awards as All-District, Acadmeic All-District and 1st Team All- NW Iowa football achievements, and 2nd Team All-Conference in basketball to name a few.
What makes such an academically and athletically adept person like Adam who he is, you might ask? He likes Dumb and Dumber and Seinfeld. He eats Chinese food and listens to Nickelback and Simple Plan, and he likes to read books such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Adam's most memorable high school moments were the Sergeant Bluff and Sioux Center football games. After high school, he plans to attend Morningside College to play football. He leaves us with these words of advice: "Be who you are, that's really coo." How fitting.
Good luck, AV.
