On March 8, 1991, Joel and Lorene D. welcomed their third child, a daughter named Jamie LaRae. She joined her older brother Jacob and her older sister Jessica.
Jamie has been busy throughout high school, participating in band, choir, swing choir, basketball cheerleading, International Club, National Honor Society, musicals, all-school plays, and large group and individual speech, qualifying for the all-state speech competition four times. Jamie is also currently on yearbook staff and is editor of the newspaper staff, where she writes the column “Nelson’s Notes.” She has also achieved the high honor roll. Outside of school, Jamie participates in CHIPS at Inspiration Hills, TEC, and RCYF at Bethel Reformed Church.
This year Jamie is taking grammar, physics, calculus, Spanish IV, work study, choir, journalism, and government.
Jamie’s favorite movies are “Italian Job” and “Miracle.” She likes to listen to Christian rock music. Her favorite colors are blue and purple, and her favorite school subjects are math and history. She likes to watch “M*A*S*H” and “Magnum, P.I.” Her favorite food is stir fry. Her favorite book is the Bible.
In the future, Jamie plans to attend SDSU to become a pediatric nurse. In ten years, she sees herself working in a hospital, married, maybe with a kid or two. She says her most memorable high school memory is hopefully still to come. Her advice to the underclassmen would be “listen to those in authority; they are in charge.”
If she could spend a day with anyone, Jamie would spend it with her Grandpa Kirchner. She says he was young when he died, and now she could have in-depth conversations with him and he could share some of his wisdom with her
