Shawn were blessed with their first baby on November 30, 1987. They
named this girl Erin Jo. Following Erin was her sister Stephanie,
who is a freshman. She also has a cat named Charlie.
Erin has chosen to be very involved in the Rock Rapids community throughout her four years of high school. She is employed at Premier Bank. She is also very involved in her church by participating in UMYF, Praise Band, Eden's Puppets, and Vacation Bible School. Erin also is an avid baby-sitter.
Along with being very involved in the community, Erin has also chosen to be active in school activities. She participates in golf, International Club, National Honor Society, large group and individual speech, quiz bowl, jazz band, T.A.T.U., and band. Erin has also been a volleyball and basketball manager, as well as a member of the stage crew for several musicals and plays. She has also been an active participant in the mentor program.
She is currently taking on a very heavy work-load in school. Her classes this year include band, business marketing, calculus, accounting, web-master, p.e., grammar, government, psychology, and single survival. Out of those, her favorites are grammar and math.
Golf is definitely in Erin’s top ten favorites list. Other favorites in Erin’s list are the movies Hitch and Ladder 49, country music, the color orange, the books The Notebook and To Kill a Mockingbird, Chinese food, and the TV shows Friends and Desperate Housewives.
Next year Erin plans to attend the University of South Dakota to major in elementary and special education. In ten years, she plans to be married with kids and to have a great job. As Erin looks back on her high school career, the Mexico trip sticks out in her mind as one of the greatest moments. She wants all underclassmen to know, “Be you, not what others want or tell you to be.” If Erin could spend one day with someone, she would spend it with Annika Sorenstam, an awesome golfer, as is Erin, so they would get along well. Erin Jo would also spend a day with her great-grandparents, Jay and Josephine Colvin, because they died when she was very young.
Erin has had a very successful and memorable high school career. Her honors include National Honor Society, All-District Golf Team, October Student of the Month, and Teacher’s Pet and Best Nickname in her class. Good luck to you in the future, Erin, and thanks for contributing positively at Central Lyon!
