Firefighters Visit
October 14, 2011
In honor of fire safety week, four volunteer firefighters from the Rock Rapids Fire Department were at school today. Dave A. and Eric B. demonstrated how a real firefighter looks and sounds.
They reminded the children that during a fire, they are there to rescue them and don't want the kids to be scared or hide. They also encouraged the children to review their family's meeting place in case of a fire and to have an adult check the batteries in their smoke alarms.
Eldon K. and Ed R. told us all about the equipment on their trucks. As you will soon see from all the smiles in our slideshow, everyone thought the best part of the firefighters visit was being able to walk through both vehicles!
We would like to thank these men for taking the time visit us today and also for their willingness to be volunteer firefighters. We think they're very brave!
