Fire Prevention Week
Last week TK was busy studying Fire Prevention Week. We learned a lot of very valuable information such as: stop, drop and roll; call 911; never play with matches; and to check our smoke alarms. The TKers were very interested in learning about being safe and came up with a lot of good questions and problems for us to discuss. We read many fire safety books, as well.
On Wednesday we had a special treat. Mason's dad, Craig Wynia, a local fire fighter, came to our classroom to teach us even more about fire safety. Fire Fighter Wynia came in his fire fighter gear. We got to pass around his helmet and his gloves. They were really heavy! Next we were able to listen to a story about a day in the life of a fire fighter. It was a really good story, and we realized how busy a fire fighter can be. Our last part of Fire Fighter Wynia's visit was the most exciting! We got to go outside and see Engine #1! Fire Fighter Wynia took us around the truck and explained the parts to us. We all got to climb up on the top and look at the levers and gages.
Thank you so much for coming Fire Fighter Wynia!
