John Robert Hommes was born to his parents,
J.D. and Lisa Hommes, on March 9, 1989. Following John were
two siblings, his brother Jason and his sister Jocelyn. The
Hommeses also have a dog named Pepper.
During his high school career, John has participated in cross country, track, quiz bowl, band, and international club. Of these, John excels most in cross country and track. He has received the all-conference award in cross country, participated in the cross country state meet for two years, and the track state meet for one year.
This year John is taking band, physics, calculus, Novel II, grammar, p.e., sociology, business law, government, and mechanical C.A.D.
Even with his busy schedule, John is still involved in the community. John participates in SR RCYF at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, attends guys’ night at his church, and works at Sunshine, the local grocery store.
In his free time, John can be found watching the movie Office Space, listening to country music, or watching Seinfeld or That 70’s Show. Other favorites of his are the color black, the book The Lord of the Rings, and chicken quesadillas.
After high school, John plans to go to a four year college to major in an engineering field. In ten years he sees himself married with the two best-looking kids in the world, living in the suburbs, and holding down a steady job.
The band trip to Florida in the summer of 2006 was John’s most memorable moment of high school. John’s words of wisdom to the underclassmen are, “Put your heart into everything you do, and you’re bound to see success.” If he could meet one person it would be Jesus, because he’s probably the most influential person ever to walk the Earth.
