On December 7, 1988, the world was graced with the birth of Jacob Daniel Karasch. Jacob’s family is made up of his mother Sandy, brother Nathan, two sisters Katrina and Rebecca, and his golden retriever Deo.
Throughout his high school career, Jacob has been very active. He has participated in football, track, and wrestling as well as student council and choir. Other than this collection of extra curricular activities, Jacob has invested much of his time in his own Christian rock band, in which he is the leading vocalist and guitarist. He is also an active member of the First Reformed Christian Church in Rock Rapids. Jacob’s faith is a very important part of his life, and his participation in the church and in his band has helped his faith grow immensely. In fact, if he could spend the day with any one person (living or dead), Jacob would spend it with Mel Gibson, because Mel’s controversial Christian views interest Jacob immensely.
Jacob’s class list for his senior year includes grammar, calculus, physics, government, Drawing II, Novel II, and sociology. His favorite classes among these are sociology and Novel II. Jacob has been a high honor student throughout his high school career. His words of wisdom to the underclassmen are, “Don’t judge others and don’t be afraid to be yourself.” His most memorable moment in high school was of his state track experience.
Although Jacob is a very busy person, he, no doubt, loves to have fun. In his free time, Jacob can be found watching the movie What Dreams May Come or the T.V. show Freaks and Geeks, reading the book Tuesdays with Morrie, and listening to the song “Jack and Diane” by John Mellancamp. Jacob’s other favorites include the color red and Mongolian food.
Next year, Jacob plans to attend Iowa State University for Aerospace Engineering. In ten years, he sees himself living in Maine working for an engineering company and happily married. Surely, Jacob’s wit and charm will be of great help in reaching each and every one of his future plans.
