On September 12, 1989, Joel and Lorene
DeBoer were blessed by a beautiful baby girl. This new addition to
the family was Jessica Helen DeBoer. Jessica also has an older
brother named Jacob, a younger sister named Jaime, and a dog named
Jess has been very involved throughout her high school career. She has been involved in band and choir for four years each. She has also been involved in jazz choir for two years and swing choir for three. Aside from the fine arts, she has been a football and basketball cheerleader for two years each. She also enjoys participating in school plays or musicals.
Outside of school, Jess participates in her church’s RCYF, takes piano and organ lessons, and plays the piano for church services.
Jess has received a few honors, the most prominent being National Honor Society and the high honor role. She was also voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by the senior class.
Jessica’s schedule is stacked this year. She is taking band, calculus, government, physics, webpage design, Spanish IV, choir, grammar, and work study at the Rock Rapids Veterinary Clinic.
On any given night, you might find Jess working at the Pizza Ranch. If she’s not there, she’s generally hanging out with friends or watching her favorite show, M*A*S*H*. She loves singing, playing, or just simply listening to any kind of music but rap. Her favorite book is the Bible, and also loves ice cream and the color black.
Jess plans to attend college, but as to where she is unsure. After graduating college, she sees herself as “possibly married” with a good job and plans on living in Colorado.
Jess simply states “If you want to be in activities, go for it!” as her advice to the underclassmen.
Jessica’s most memorable high school moments have been going to state in both jazz band and in mock trial. Both were, as she says, “incredibly fun and entertaining!”
If Jess could spend a day with anyone at all, she would spend her day with Tamora Pierce, her favorite author, to find out how she does it.
Jess is currently ranked number one in the class. Nothing has gotten in her way so far, and nothing seems as if it’s going to.
