On October 20, 1988, the world was
blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby boy. Dustin Reck
was born to parents Norman and Diane Reck, and the Reck family has
grown to include Dustin’s younger sister Briana and his two black
labs, Maddie and Jack.
Dustin has kept very busy throughout high school. He has been involved in the local FFA chapter for all four years, in which he has won the FFA Beef Job Placement award for three years running. In addition, he has been a member of Rock Rapid’s own First Reformed Church. He has also kept himself very busy in the classroom as well. Dustin’s senior schedule consists of shop, government, work study, novel, and several agricultural classes. His favorite of these is either shop or vocational agriculture. Outside of school, Dustin spends much of his time working for Bob Ladd. Dustin has helped Bob for almost five years now. Throughout that time, Dustin has established himself as a very dedicated and hard-working individual. In fact, many people would say that Dustin’s crowning characteristic is his great work ethic.
Dustin’s life exemplifies the phrase, “Work hard, play harder.” Although Dustin is known for his great work ethic, he is probably better known for his great sense of humor. Fittingly, Dustin was named “Best Laugh” in the senior class. He was also named “Most Talkative.” When he’s not hard at work, you’d probably find Dustin out on the town with his sweetheart Kayla, who he loves to be around. To relax, Dustin enjoys watching the movie The Notebook or the T.V. show That 70’s Show, listening to country music, and reading the book Of Mice and Men. His list of favorites also includes the color blue and the meal potatoes and roast. His favorite, most memorable high school moment is of when the hair on his legs caught fire, igniting both his legs.
Dustin plans to attend a two-year college next year and hopes to get into farming shortly thereafter. In ten years, he sees himself farming and living in the area raising purebred Angus cattle. If Dustin could spend one day with any one person (living or dead), he would choose Hank Williams, because he was one of the best country singers to ever have lived.
Dustin’s outstanding work ethic and his candid personality are sure to take him as far as he wishes to go.
