Nancy and Carl DeJongh were blessed with
their son Joel on October 20, 1989; Joel also has a sister Kim.
During high school Joel participated in football, basketball, and track for four years, quiz bowl for three years, International Club, baseball, and speech for one year. In the community Joel is involved in United Methodist Youth Group. As for his class schedule Joel is taking band, calculus, government, grammar, construction technology, accounting, P.E., psychology, business law, and single survival. Joel has also made it to the high honor roll all four years of high school.
When it comes to Joel’s list of favorites, he has quite a variety. His favorite movies are Dumb and Dumber and Friday Night Lights. He could listen to any kind of music; he likes the color blue, reading Bleachers by John Grisham. He loves to eat steak and hash browns which he could make in his favorite class single survival and watch Lost or Family Guy.
If Joel could spend the day with anyone dead or alive he choose to spend the day with his Great-grandpa DeGroot, because he has heard so many good things about him.
Joel’s future plans are to attend a large four year university for business and when he’s done with that he hopes to own his own business or to be in top management, while driving a Harley- Davidson in his spare time. And for Joel’s advice to the underclassmen he says, “Life is a garden, dig it.”
