Department of Education Site Visit Report
David Ackerman, Superintendent
Dear Central Lyon Patrons,
As many of you know, Central Lyon recently received an accreditation site visit from the Iowa Department of Education. These site visits occur every five years and are a requirement for all schools in Iowa. A site visit team of five people from the Iowa Department of Education and the NWAEA spent three days in our district reviewing documents, interviewing members of the staff, middle school and high school students, administrators, school board members, and parents. The site visit team toured the buildings and made observations in classrooms. A site visit is the mechanism used to ensure that every school in Iowa is meeting the standards established by Department of Education in all areas. The following report is an in depth review of the district in all areas. The report details noted strengths of the district as well as recommendations for improvement. The end of the report lists noncompliance issues which must be addressed. The noncompliance issues listed for Central Lyon were minor and have already been corrected for the future. Overall the district received a very favorable report that we can all be proud of. The entire report is available for public inspection and is available on the link below. A big thank you to all those who helped with the interviews and who assisted with the preparation.
