Pennies for Peace
Central Lyon Elementary students have been raising money since October through the Pennies for Peace program. The money raised will be sent to the Central Asia Institute to help build schools in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The jar of pennies weighed over 100 pounds and contained $262.96! This mission project centered around the popular book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen. Frontier Bank representatives Jeremy Keizer and Amy Korthals picked up the jar at school and took it to the bank to be counted.
