On September 26, 1989, Doug and Lisa Rockhill’s lives were changed when their second son, Josh, was born. Josh’s family also includes his older brother Danny, Danny’s fiancée Emily, and their dog, Josie.
Josh stays very busy year-round with projects in FFA. He has received the Star Greenhand award, Chapter Diversified Livestock award, and five place fruit sale awards. He has been in FFA for four years, vice-president for one of them, and 4-H for nine years. Other activities he is included in are football, speech for two years, bowling, choir, and jazz choir. Other honors he has achieved are attending all-state speech and being an honor student for three years. Josh was also voted Hardest Worker and Best Hair.
In his senior year, when he’s not working on FFA and academic activities, he stays busy in school. The classes he is taking this year are government, work study, agriculture business, single survival, choir, basic geometry, horticulture, American literature, and speech. Outside of school he attends the United Methodist church and senior high youth group.
When Josh has time to relax, he enjoys the movie Super Bad and listening to country music. Some of his other favorites are the color blue and the classes vocational agriculture and agriculture business. Josh’s most memorable memory in high school was the State FFA Convention his junior year when he and his friends at the convention borrowed a TV from Wal-Mart so they could play Guitar Hero for the night.
Josh’s future plans are to attend college and major in Animal Science. In ten years he plans on being married with a few kids and living around Rock Rapids. If he could spend a day with anyone he could, he would spend it with his cousin David, because he never got the chance to get to know him very well, since David died at the age of four from leukemia.
Words of wisdom Josh has to give to the underclassmen are to take as many agricultural classes you can. We know this wisdom will help Josh with whatever he chooses to do because he loves agriculture and with that there’s no stopping him!
