On October 11, 1989, Barb and Rod Ver Meer were blessed with their first child, Ryan. Ryan then welcomed his sister, Shailey, and his brother, Byron.
Throughout high school Ryan has been involved in the all-school play, and he has served as an Auxiliary Pioneer for three months. Also, Ryan has been an honor student.
This year Ryan’s classes are today’s family, business marketing, speech, accounting, psychology, Drawing III, and single survival.
When Ryan is not in school, one might find him watching his favorite movie Moulin Rouge or listening to his favorite music “Moby”, “Fatboyslim,” “Sufjan Stevens,” “Blue Man Group,” and all oldies music. Some of his other favorites include the color cobalt blue, the Uglies, Pretties, and Specials trilogy, and Chinese food. His favorite subjects are art, English, and science. His favorite TV show is Robot Chicken, The Angry Beavers, Invader Zim, and What Not to Wear.
Ryan’s future plans include moving to Sioux Falls, and getting a good job to support his pioneering. He also wants to possibly do some temp work at Bethel in New York and getting married. In ten years, Ryan sees himself living in Sioux Falls, married, pioneering regularly, and living the “real” life.
His most memorable high school moment was taking a trip to a ballroom dance studio in Sioux Falls.
If Ryan could spend one day with anybody, it would be Ron Smith because he is a very dear friend of his, and Ryan could take an entire day just to get to know him better.
Ryan’s words of wisdom as he leaves Central Lyon, is “Give your teachers the respect they deserve, and they will do the same in return.”
