On November 10, 1992, Chet and Mel De Jong were blessed with their first child, Max De Jong. Max also has a younger brother, Luke, and younger sister, Emily.
During his high school career, Max has been very busy in sports and academics. He has been involved in cross country and track for four years. He has also been the basketball statistician for four years. Max has been in band, jazz band, Quiz Bowl, TATU, Mock Trial, and International Club for four years. He is also in National Honor Society and is the Student Council President. Outside of high school, Max is involved in The Methodist-UCC youth group.
His senior year consists of AP calculus, AP physics, band, grammar, AP Spanish, government, single survival, and psychology. However, science and math have always been his favorites.
Max enjoys reading “Daemon” and watching “Mythbusters.” He also likes to watch “Iron Man” and listen to any kinds of music except country and metal. His favorite food is cinnamon rolls, and he likes the color white. If Max could spend the day with anyone, he would choose Tony Stark, because he thinks Tony is a genius.
Max’s most memorable high school moment was going to all-state speech his sophomore year. When asked what advice he would leave for the underclassmen, Max said, “Don’t be afraid to be ambitious.”
Max’s plans for the future include attending a four year program in physics. He also hopes to go to graduate school and get a Ph.D. in physics. In ten years he sees himself doing research for a large corporation, living in California with a wife, and maybe having a few kids. Good luck in the future, Max!
