Trickster Tales
Central Lyon first and second grade students attended the production of Trickster Tales at the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center on the campus of Northwestern College on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. The students enjoyed a short bus ride to Orange City for the production. The kids ate a sack lunch and then were seated in the Allen Black Box Theatre for the production. A cast of nine performed for us. The children enjoyed drumming, dancing, singing and stories about some of the craftiest characters from American Indian lore, including coyotes, rabbits, ravens, raccoons and spiders. The animals did their best to get away with mischief only to discover that the jokes were on them. Their unpredictable stories helped the children learn how to act and how not to act. Sometimes, the children were pulled from the audience to come onstage and help the cast. The kids had a really nice time at the play. Please ask your child to tell you about their day. Special thanks to Central Lyon School for allowing us to attend this event.
