On January 2, 1994, Shauntelle Hindt and Dennis Smith were blessed with their daughter, Mackenzie Smith. Her family also includes her step-dad, Brad Hindt, her two brothers Dustin Korkow and Jon Ritter, and her sister Lindsey.
During her high school career, Mackenzie has been involved in various activities including sports, musicals, school leadership, and clubs. She was in volleyball for two years, basketball for two years, track and field for one year, band for four years, chorus one year, class secretary her freshman, junior, and senior year, large group speech two years, stage crew one year, play one year, musical two years, Jazz Band four years, International Club one year, and the May Term play one year.
Her senior year consists of band, choir, work study with Mr. Langholdt, AP calculus, sociology, grammar, government, single survival, public speaking, general psychology, Composition 1, and Composition 2. Her favorite class is band.
Mackenzie enjoys reading books by Jodi Picoult and listening to “The Scene Aesthetic.” She likes watching the movie “Sherlock Holmes,” and her favorite show is “Glee.” Her favorite color is green, and she likes any food with pasta. Mackenzie’s most memorable moment was getting fourth place at state Jazz Band I.
When asked to state words of wisdom to the underclassmen, Mackenzie stated, “Don’t waste your time while you’re in high school. Get your work done, set your goals high and achieve your dreams no matter what the obstacles.” If Mackenzie could spend the day with anyone, she would spend it with her favorite band The Scene Aesthetic because they have great music and it would be awesome to hear the stories behind it.
Her plans for the future include going to college in Texas or Colorado for music education. Good luck in the future, Mackenzie!
