On August 1, 1994, Rebecca was welcomed into the world by her mother, Sandy Wessels. Rebecca’s family also includes her sister Katrina Karasch, her two brothers Nathan and Jacob Karasch, and her golden retriever, Penny.
Rebecca has been widely involved in school activities throughout her high school career at Central Lyon. These activities include: cross country, track, band, jazz band, chorus, jazz choir, swing choir, All-State, honor choir, large group speech, flag corps, musicals, and theater. She was also honored by being Miss Rock Rapids and representing Lyon County at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. Also, she is involved in River Valley Players cast and Sr. RCYF, and is an employee at Sunshine Foods.
Her senior year consists of band, chorus, college psychology, sociology, grammar, single survival, government, and Journalism 2. Her favorite class is psychology.
Rebecca enjoys reading books by Jodi Picoult and listening to all kinds of music. She likes watching the movie “How to Train Your Dragon,” and her favorite show is “That 70’s Show.” Her favorite color is red, and she likes the food macaroni and cheese and a side of applesauce. Rebecca’s most memorable high school moment was getting fourth at state for Jazz Band I.
When asked to state words of wisdom to the underclassmen, Rebecca said, “Keep up on work; falling behind makes it hard to catch up.” If Rebecca could spend the day with someone living or dead, it would be her family because it is rare that they are all together at once.
Her plans for the future include attending South Dakota State University for psychology and then attending grad school. Good luck in the future, Rebecca!
