National FFA Convention
by Dalton VB
Four Central Lyon FFA members (Mindy H., Kayla K., Codey B., and Allen S.), advisor Mr. Postma, and chaperone Mrs. Postma attended the 84th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 19-22. In all there were over 55,000 FFA members in attendance. The group attended live convention sessions which included key note speaker Dave Roever. His speech was about self-esteem, morality, treating others with respect and making good decisions. He said the best way for a teenager to predict their future is to simply look at who their friends are and make sure they're making good choices. The members also attended the FFA career show and talent show/contests. The group also toured the world famous horse track, Churchill Downs, and the Louisville Slugger Museum and factory, both in Louisville, Kentucky. They also got to enjoy a concert featuring Blake Shelton, CMA Male Vocalist of the Year, and enjoyed many of the top ten bucking bronco riders and bull riders in the PRCA. The Central Lyon FFA group made the trip with a group of FFA members form George-Little Rock and their advisor. A very special THANK YOU from all of us to Sharon Postma for being a chaperone.
