Book Fair & Hot Lunch Week

Bolder. Prouder. Stronger. Reader.

Did you know that reading just 20 minutes a day exposes your child to about 1.8 million words per year? Reading helps students develop a stronger vocabulary.  Students who read for pleasure average higher grades in English, mathematics, science, and history!

Encourage your child to read books for fun by attending our Scholastic Book Fair themed Bolder. Prouder. Stronger. Reader. this week, November 7-11. Hot lunch week is held in conjunction with the book fair when you can join your student for lunch at 11:00am on the following days: Monday-Kindergarten, Tuesday-second grade, Wednesday-third and TK, Thursday-first grade, and at 11:20 on Friday for fourth grade. Browse the books after before or after lunch. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. The book fair will be open each day in the elementary/middle school library from 8:00 – 4:00, except on Friday which will be 8:00 – 12:00.

According to Scholastic, the book fair is one of the best days of the year for kids, "For starters, it offers kids the chance to shop for themselves, whether it’s discovering a new genre or picking up the latest book in their favorite series. The Fair is also a place where inspiring connections are made—with characters, fellow fans, and a lifelong love of reading."

Our goal is to try to make sure each student from TK – 4th is able to purchase a book from the book fair. In the past, we have used donations and some of our profits to purchase books for students who were not able to purchase a book from the Book Fair. Parents are able to purchase books to donate to classrooms.  This year we are doing book bingo to give classrooms a chance to win books from the book fair. The rest of the profit we receive goes back into purchasing books for the library , to fund special reading events, and for our February Reading Month.

If you would like to donate a book to your classroom, teachers will have a wish list at the book fair.  We will have bookplates to adhere to the inside, front cover of the donated book. We look forward to having you participate in our fair, and remember, all purchases benefit our school.  Thank you for supporting our readers!
