City Council
In Social Studies, we've been learning about our local, state, and national government. We were excited to be invited into Mrs. Pytleski's room today to listen to Elsie's Dad, Matt Oedekoven, talk about what it meant when he served on the Rock Rapids City Council.
He shared with the students how he was elected, how rules and laws are decided, why we pay tax on things we buy, and how that tax money is spent. The children asked him very good questions and seemed to make some nice connections between what we've read in our book and real-life. Thanks again for explaining such a big topic in a way 2nd graders could understand, Matt! We love our Rock Rapids community.
