Veterans Visit 2nd Grade
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThis morning we were invited into Mrs. Snyders' classroom to learn more about veterans. The children were greeted by Lee Klosterbuer, Robert Klosterbuer, Albert VanHolland, Alvin Lange, Don Fastert, and John Pudwill. The children read the Veterans Day poem that Mrs. Snyders' class read in November at the HS assembly.
Each of the veterans introduced themselves and shared some of their experiences in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. They also shared the expectations of parade etiquette when the color guard is present. The children had so many questions we decided to break into small groups and let each of them talk personally with the veteran guests. While we owe a HUGE thank you to our veterans for our freedoms and their sacrifices, they really wanted to come today and thank our 2nd graders for their hard work and thoughtfulness by giving them each a VFW ruler and pen.
