Fundraising with Tacos!
What do Spanish trips and Fundraising have in common? Tacos!
This spring two groups of students have the opportunity to travel to a different country to learn about their culture first-hand. They have been fundraising for a year and hope to raise a little more money before they go. This year they are hosting a taco feed on Friday, January 20, at the GLR basketball game, from 5-7PM in the high school commons. Adult meals are $6, while kid meals (8 & under) are $4.
At the end of March the first group will be going to Spain. They will spend 8 days there visiting the cities of Barcelona, Zaragoza and Madrid. In Barcelona the students will tour the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral and Parc Güell. They will also get to experience the Mediterranean Sea. On the way to Madrid they will have a stop-over in the beautiful city of Zaragoza. Some of the highlights of Madrid are the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace and learning to dance the flamenco.
At the end of May the second group will travel to Costa Rica to experience their rich culture. They will visit a coffee plantation and a former chocolate plantation. There are plenty of activities like kayaking on Lake Arenal, zip lining and white water rafting. In Costa Rica the students will be staying in some eco lodges in the rain forest. They will get to wake to the sounds of howler monkeys.
This is a fantastic experience for these students! Please support them by attending their Taco Johns supper.
