Are You Interested In Being A Board Member?

This November Central Lyon residents will go to the polls to elect three members to the School Board. Each elected member of the board will serve a four-year term.

 

Community members interested in running for office are encouraged to contact Superintendent Brent Jorth or Board Secretary Jackie Wells by calling 472-2664 to learn more about the process of getting their name on the ballot. Iowa’s Secretary of State website provides a “Candidate’s Guide to the School Election” on their website. It can be accessed by going to: sos.iowa.gov/elections/pdf/electioninfo/schoolcandguide.pdf. In addition, the Iowa Association of School Boards provides a wealth of information on their website at www.ia-sb.org/school-board-elections.

 

Important Dates:

  • Filing Begins: Monday, August 28
  • Filing Deadline: Thursday, September 21
  • Withdrawal Deadline: Tuesday, September 26
  • Election Day: Tuesday, November 7
  • Canvass of Votes: Tuesday, November 14
  • School Board Meeting: Monday, November 20
    • Final Meeting of the 2021-23 School Board
      • Approval of Minutes of Past Meetings
      • Approval of Financial Items
      • Consideration of Unfinished Business
    • 1st Meeting of the 2023-25 School Board
