Gingerbread Unit
In our classroom, we like to do a lot of learning and have a lot of fun, so we incorporated both with some gingerbread characters and ingredients! We have spent the last few weeks reading, comparing, and contrasting the two stories: The Gingerbread Girl and The Gingerbread Boy. We have analyzed the story structure to both stories. We also are working on writing our very own gingerbread stories during our Writer's Workshop time. AND we worked collaboratively to build our very own gingerbread houses out of graham crackers, frosting, and lots of candy. Once the students completed their gingerbread houses they began working on a "how to" writing piece. "How to" build a gingerbread house. WHEW! We have hit so many learning targets while engaging in this fun holiday unit.
