Rocks and Minerals
The 3rd grade classes have been busy in the classroom working with Mr. Pytleski studying rocks and minerals. I introduced the topic to the class and completed work in our interactive notebook to get us ready for their experiment. They were thrilled to be working hands on with many different materials. The objective was to be able to carve, with a nail, into a piece of material to create an artifact that would be able to last. Some materials they got to choose from were alabaster, wax, limestone, marble or pumice. They found out that some were more difficult than others to use for their artifact. Seeing the kiddos work hands on when Mr. Pytleski is in the classroom is an amazing experience. They ask many great questions and are learning so many new things. I, along with the students, appreciate all of the work Mr. Pytleski does for our classes.
