Find a Seat!
When you make a trip to Room 106 you'll notice things look a little different from a traditional classroom. This year we have moved to flexible seating!
What is flexible seating?
Flexible seating is just what it sounds like. It is seating, that is flexible. Think of walking into a Starbucks and finding a seat that you want. It is just like that! Students are able to pick a seat that they feel will work best for them.
Flexible seating does not mean that students will roam the room all day. They are still responsible for quality work. It does not take away structure. Flexible seating gives students te opportunity to be comfortable where they are sitting. In turn, they are open to learning and listening. Students are still expected to follow the rules of the classroom.
Mrs. Schar and I applied for a Lion Grant through the Central Lyon Foundation to purchase flexible seating materials for our classrooms. We were awarded the grant and purchased ball chairs, scoop rockers, Ikea stools, lap desks, disk seats, and wobble stools. I was also given extra funds from the Central Lyon PTC to purchase a standing table. With all of the new options I kept a few traditional desks and chairs.
The students are enjoying the freedom to pick where their spots. Stop by Room 106 and find a seat that works for you!
