Falling into Fall in Kinderland!
We have been very busy in our kindergarten class! We have had lots to celebrate! Here are a few pictures from our special events.
We celebrated Fire Safety Week in October. Throughout the week we completed activities that helped to teach us about being safe with fire and what to do when there is a fire. On Friday we made a special snack that looked like a firetruck using graham crackers, frosting, cookies, fruit slice, and pretzels! After the delicious snack, the Rock Rapids Fire Department brought two fire trucks for us to look at and explore. We also got to see firefighters dressed in their protective gear. We were able to ask questions and see lots of equipment! A special thanks to the RRFD for helping us learn more about fire safety!
In October we also celebrated Halloween by having a classroom party where we were able to wear our costumes! We started our party by listening to two Halloween books. We then split up into groups and rotated around the room. We had spooky cupcakes and juice for a snack. Monster masks and scratch art was at the craft table! We were wrapped up like mummies at one station and bowled for prizes and had a ring toss at the games station. This was fun afternoon! Thank you to the parents who helped with the party and sent treats/drinks in!
One last big celebration was 50's Day! Students dressed in 50's attire and they were lookin' sharp! In the morning, we rotated classrooms so the students could enjoy different aspects of the 1950's! Ms. Whitsell had a hula hoop contest and students played a math game where they had to cruise to 50. Mrs. Gerber set up a photo booth for students, with props, and took silly pictures. Students also made a '50 Days Smarter Hat' in her room. In our classroom, we listened to records, danced, and had a bubble gum blowing contest! The pictures only show a small part of the fun we had. In the afternoon, we had root beer floats and then graphed who liked them and who didn't. Only three students did not like root beer floats!
Overall, we have had lots of fun and it is only beginning! Students have lots to look forward to in the upcoming months! We get to go to Pizza Ranch and make our own pizzas! We will go to the Lyon County Courthouse to hang ornaments made by the students. We will rotate classrooms in December for Christmas Around the World with an exciting culminating event We will watch the Polar Express in our pajamas drinking hot cocoa and eating popcorn! Ending the year will also be our Holiday Party! So much to be thankful for!
