INCLEMENT WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Cancellations, announcements, emergencies
If you did not get any messages on Friday about cancelling school, please check your JMC Parent settings to make sure that you have the appropriate phone numbers & emails entered. Also make sure that you have selected which numbers you want notified and how to notify them. There was an issue with some people's selections getting un-selected and we are working with JMC to fix this issue but for now the best way to make sure you get the next school schedule change is to check those settings.
If school will be closed, starting late, or dismissing early due to inclement weather, an announcement will be broadcast on the following radio and TV stations:
Radio: KQAD, 101.1 FM/800 AM - Luverne
KIWA, 105.3 FM/1550 AM - Sheldon
When a decision to start classes 2 hours late is announced, continue to monitor the radio/TV stations. The decision to cancel school will be made by 9:00 a.m. if weather/road conditions do not improve. In the event of an early dismissal, the radio/TV stations will be contacted at least one hour prior to the closing. If parent are ever concerned about the weather or road conditions, it is always their prerogative to keep their child at home. All we ask is that the parent call the school to inform us that the child will not be in school.
In our effort to improve communication between parents and school, in 2014 the Central Lyon Community School District has implemented a new announcement broadcast system that will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone, text, or e-mail within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start. The new service is provided through the school’s student information software company, JMC Inc. This is the same on-line software that you may be using currently to access your student’s progress and report cards. Information on signing up for the new JMC Inc. message center was available at registration and by clicking the next sentence. Click here to learn how to update your parent information on JMC.
Central Lyon will no longer be using Snowcap or SchoolReach for announcements.
Please continue to monitor the TV and radio stations or the Central Lyon website at www.centrallyon.org for any updates or additional announcements.
NOTE: Many radio and TV stations not on our inclement weather list have subscribed to receive the Central Lyon messages and have chosen to announce the Central Lyon information when they receive it. If the JMC Inc. message center is not working, Central Lyon will contact only the following media outlets: KQAD (101.1 FM or 800 AM), KIWA (105.3 FM or 1550 AM), and KELO TV.
