Great facilities! In 1998, a new high school building was added to the existing elementary/middle school building which was built in the late 1960s. The high school consists of approximately 187 high-achieving students, the middle school enrollment is 127, and the elementary has 359 students. Recent test scores exceed state and national averages. Central Lyon offers Smart Boards in all academic classrooms and campus wide wireless network. Mobile laptop labs are available to all classrooms.

The school is located in Rock Rapids and also serves Doon, IA. Rock Rapids is the Lyon County seat and has a population of 2500 and is located 35 miles east of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and 55 miles west of the Iowa Great Lakes area.
