Classes
by Mel DeJong, RN
I teach several classes yearly. These usually include:
Pre-school through grade 3: hand washing
This is an interactive class usually done in the fall.
Grades 4 and 5: maturity
This is offered in the spring and parents are invited to attend. Students may skip this class if parents choose.
Grades 6-8: abstinence-based sex education
This is usually done half-way through the year. Students may skip these classes if parents choose.
Grade 5: Tar Wars
This is an anti-tobacco class that I teach in the spring.
Special Education: Circles and Life Facts
Circles is a DVD class that teaches social boundaries.
Life Facts is a sex education class.
I only teach these classes with parental permission.
Misc. speaking: hygiene done on a 1:1 basis or with a class per teacher request.
High School: Navigator
I teach three sessions of the freshman May Term class Navigator, which is based on an abstinence-based curriculum.
