This season of large group speech began in September with speechies organizing groups and choosing material for contest.  Speech coach Mrs. Hakeman has 21 students this year in three categories: ensemble acting, improv, and mime. Speech students are very committed to the program and practice both early mornings and after school. The goal of each group is to perform at a high level at district competition, so they can advance to state competition. The ultimate goal of every group is to perform at the All-State Festival. The 2018 district competition resulted in seven of eight groups advancing to the state contest, with two two of these groups receiving overall I's at state. All-State honors went to Zach Springer and Brady Wright for Ensemble acting Who Doth Inhabit the Primary Position

“I have participated in Large Group Speech my entire high school career, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I love being able to be with my friends and acting comedic skits. There are so many different options to do, it can range from Mime to Improv to Musical Theater! It can be stressful trying to memorize lines and actions, but in the end it pays off. I have been able to go to State, and I am so glad I had such a fun experience!”
