Middle School Mock Trial Teams go Undefeated in Regionals

One Team Advances to State

On November 12, 2011, the Middle School Mock Trial teams competed in Region 10 competition. All three teams were undefeated in their two rounds. Twelve teams from six schools competed in this year’s competition with two teams advancing on to state competition in Des Moines held November 17-18.

Central Lyon’s Purple/Gold team advanced on to state via a point system along with a team from St. Mary’s Storm Lake. Thirty-two teams competed in the three day event. One round was completed on Thursday afternoon, while two rounds were completed on Friday. Saturday saw three teams from Johnston and one from Regis Middle School compete in the semi and final rounds.

Twenty students were recognized as All Regional attorneys or witnesses, while Meredith Snyders, Dominique Kooiker, Makayla Leuthold, and Hope Rasmussen were recognized as Honorable All-State attorneys and witnesses. This is the first time that all Central Lyon teams have gone undefeated.
