In our science classes we have been talking about weathering, erosion, and deposition. We invited Laura Sievers, the Lyon County Engineer, to come and speak to our 4th grade students. Mrs. Sievers began her presentation by asking the students how many miles of roads they thought there were in Lyon County. They were surprised to learn there are over 1,000 miles of road! Students were shown pictures of erosion and landslides in our county. They were asked to decide how we should fix the biggest landslide in the county. Mrs. Sievers showed several options and asked that students pick one and explain why they chose that option. There was a lot of great discussion and responses. Thank you, Mrs. Sievers, for coming in and sharing with our classes!
