The Power of Wind

This month our "big idea" in Science is Physical Science: Engineering and Design.  This week my students learned about the power of wind and experimented with designing a structure that could stand up again kinetic energy (a box fan).  For this project, they started planning, discussing, and drawing their design with their partner on Wednesday and were anticipating the arrival of Mr. Pytleski, our STEAM coach, today.

While not all structures were able to withstand the wind or even made it to be tested, everyone learned that engineering takes a lot of trial and error, careful planning and construction, and teamwork.  Keep on dreaming and designing, my little engineers!

Check out our link below to see and hear their excitement with this super fun science project.   Thanks for making science so awesome, Mr. P.!
