Our school brings a new fun option to lunch, our salad option, which provides a second choice instead of hot lunch. When going through the line students will get to choose either a salad or hot lunch. This option was considered last year when quite a few students wanted to have a second option for lunch that would provide a healthier choice of a meal. The cooks decided that this school year they would make a “salad of the day.”

They serve a salad each day, each being different, the salads of the day are:

  • Monday – Chef Salad
  • Tuesday – Taco Salad
  • Wednesday – BBQ Chicken Salad
  • Thursday – Jumbo Garden Salad w/ Cheese
  • Friday – Assorted rotation of different salads

These salads have been a hit and have been going very well. Our cooks make about 40 – 45 salads daily and usually they are gone, on some occasions even have run out. These salads aren’t just available to students; they are also available to staff who have also seemed to express liking the option and variety for their lunches. Every salad is made fresh daily and includes extras like fruit or chips. Our cooks also offer any leftover from the day before as a second option. Most statements I received from some students are loving the salads, and the taco salad is the one they like the best. “I like them, especially the taco salad”, “I liked the salads, they’re really good,” and many more great reviews from students. The salads are a fantastic option and I suggest you try one.
