Concert Band
Band has always had a major impact on my life since 5th grade rolled around. Music has always brought a sense of calmness and relaxation to me in times of stress and also the opportunities band produces you with are miraculous. Through band, I have performed on many different stages and underneath some very intelligent and well-known composers. I have also participated in Jazz Band since 7th grade. Jazz Band is a competitive style group that competes in three different competitions throughout the winter, not including the state competition. Iowa Jazz Championships (IJC’s) have been one of the most thrilling settings I’ve ever been a part of in my high school career. My sophomore year, our jazz band placed top two in our class so we got to do a head to head “battle” in Iowa State’s very own Stephens Auditorium which was an amazing feat in it of itself. ~Written by CL Senior Dylann VB.
