Get to know Mrs. Baker

Hi, I have been teaching at Central Lyon since 1997.  I am very excited to be teaching first grade! Central Lyon has given me the opportunity to develop my teaching skills by teaching several different grade levels from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Since I have changed grade levels many times I am often asked, "Which grade do you like best?" This is a difficult question for me to answer because each grade level offers many rewards along with its own challenges. I do believe that all of these experiences have helped me to become a better teacher though. Teaching the different grades has given me perspective on the expectations and learning goals placed upon students at the various levels.

I guess the best way I can answer that question is by simply saying, "All of them". I truly love teaching children, no matter the age. Watching them grow and learn is so rewarding for me. I try to make my classroom and school a special place for all students. I look forward to seeing their faces everyday. I show them how much I care by greeting them with a smile every morning and making sure to say good bye to each student at the end of the day.
