Central Lyon School Foundation
The Central Lyon School Foundation, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that supports excellence in both academic and co-curricular activities. The foundation is directed by a board of directors. Members of the board include Cheryl Van Beek - president, Scott Postma -vice president, Curt Dieren - secretary, Chad Geerdes - treasurer, John McDonald, Amy Korthals, Chad Ramussen, Brad Lupkes, Amy Schulte, and Judy Gacke school board liaison.
The purpose of the Foundation is to provide funds for academic programs, encourage post secondary education through scholarships, and to develop and extend the facilities, services, and resources of the Central Lyon School District. A few examples of recent distributions include the purchase of Smart Board equipment for classrooms, new math curriculum, new media center materials, and a donation to the historical plaza. Lion Grants are offered annually to individual teachers for special educational projects they propose.
The Foundation has also established a chapter of the national Dollars for Scholars program. All scholarship funds are awarded through Central Lyon Dollars for Scholars which provide added benefits for the scholarship recipients.
The Central Lyon School District has a history of providing quality education for its students and will continue to strive to provide the educational programs that will help students achieve their maximum potential.
