Directed Observation

Three seniors are taking Directed Observation as a dual credit course this semester.  Students receive one Central Lyon credit and one Northwest Iowa Community College credit for this class.  The prerequisite for this course is Foundations of Education.  Students must put in more than 30 classroom hours this semester, submit journals, interview the presidents of the CLEA, work with students with special needs, and prepare and teach at least one lesson.

Teachers that have agreed to host and work with students this semester include Mr. Eckenrod, Mr. Docker, Mr. Snyder, Mrs. Gerber, Mrs. Weiler, and Mrs. Larson.  Students specified their teaching interest areas and were placed according to the desired grade level or subject they would like to teach someday.

This class is providing great real-world experience for those students considering a career in teaching.
