This year students have been introduced to a new phonics program called Jolly Phonics. Jolly Phonics uses a story, an actition, and a picture to help students learn the sounds. We started the school year off by introducing a letter a day for the first nine weeks. As we introduced each new letter we were able to start building words that we have been able to sound out. We have now started introducing some "tricky words". These sight words are "tricky" because they don't follow the rules of the sounds that we are learning. As we are learning how to read and write these words, we have been working very hard on memorizing them.
