Life in the Soil: Dig Deeper

Story image 1_0

The 2nd grade students have been learning about the importance of conservation and the role that trees and healthy soils play in it.  In Art class, with Mrs. Sieperda, they have been working on creating their own creative soil pictures to show this.

These pictures were submitted to a contest the Lyon County Soil & Water Conservation office was having.  Carrie Johnson, Sheila Haspels, and Alex Ahders came to announce Isaiah D. as the winner.  They also awarded the entire class with a pizza party and pop.

The Conservation representatives also gave each child a coloring book and a Common Purple Lilac to take home and plant in their yard.  Thank you, Mrs. Sieperda and the Lyon County Soil and Water Conservation office for the wonderful surprises.
