The Most Important Meal of the Day
According to research, those who eat breakfast feel more alert and are all around healthier. Eating breakfast regularly reduces the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
By serving breakfast in school, the parents know that their children are getting a healthy meal before starting their day. In the modern working world there are many homes where both parents are in the work force.
Breakfast may be skipped or people might go to fast food places before they drop their children off at school. For the older children there are times when they are rushing to an activity in the morning before school. With this in mind, it eases parents’ minds to know that their children can grab breakfast at the start of school day to start the day off right.
Central Lyon serves a healthy breakfast for the children from 7:45 am to 8:10 am in the elementary, middle school, and high school. High school students have different options including grab-and-go items. Each day there is something different to try, and the lunch menu is posted on the Central Lyon website: www.centrallyon.org under lunch menu. KIWA and KQAD radio stations also announce it and you can also find it in the Lyon County Reporter or the Doon Press.
Central Lyon recommends that parents encourage their children to eat a healthy breakfast daily, whether it is at home or at school.
