First Grade Writers
First grade students love to write! We are learning to write for fun along wiht writing for a purpose. We practice labeling pictures, making lists, making cards, giving shout-outs to those who show kindness towards students, as well as creating stories.
During our formal instruction time we learn and practice different forms of writing. So far we have practiced personal narrative, informative, and "how-to" writings. In this type of writing students learn to think sequentially about how to accomplish a task. Then they have to put the steps into sentences and senteces down onto paper. They use words such as first, next, then, last (finally) to help show order.
It is so fun to see student enthusiasm for writing time. They work hard and do a great job. I am so proud of them!
