Writing the Autobiography
The eighth-graders are starting to brainstorm for their autobiographies they will be writing over the span of the next few weeks. The autobiography, not to be confused with the biography they will write on ANOTHER person with Mr. Eckenrod and Mrs. Van Wyhe, is the story of their OWN LIVES.
Students are encouraged to go home and talk to their parents about the early years of their lives. If there are any stories of your child that may include memories they don't remember personally, please share those stories. (Some things they won't remember, but you will.) These stories/anecdotes may end up being great memories to add to an autobiography. I have also encouraged students to look through baby books, scrapbooks, etc. to help remember some of those childhood memories.
The students will cover their lives from birth to present. Please encourage your child to have fun with this writing project. It will end up being a great piece for students to save and share with current and future family members.
