Did You Know....

Did you know that Central Lyon has a great organization working behind the scenes to financially support innovative ideas in our school?

Do you know who students can thank for their laptops and backpacks? The Central Lyon Foundation, which was established in 2001, is a private, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the enhancement of quality education through educational opportunities, school facilities, technology, and service, on behalf of the Central Lyon Community School District. The Central Lyon Foundation helped fund laptops and backpacks, along with classroom Smart Board equipment, new math curriculum, media center materials, and they made a donation to the historical plaza. Future projects are in the works.

Did you know selected seniors are awarded college scholarships each year? The Dollars for Scholars Chapter has been administered by the Foundation Board since the spring of 2004. Many post-secondary institutions agree to favorably treat (not to reduce the institution aid) Dollars for Scholars awards. Also, many schools agree to match the sponsored award if given through a Dollars for Scholars Chapter.

Do you know who paid for the turbano drums for elementary music? The Lion Grant Program encourages exceptional ideas that will improve the educational process. Lion Grants are offered annually to individual teachers for specialized educational projects they devise and propose for their classrooms. It is designed to stimulate the development of projects and is funded by the Foundation.

Did you know the Central Lyon Foundation has a facebook page? Click here for their facebook page, and "like" it! Stay current on the work of the Foundation by signing up for occasional emails (no more than once a month) here for news updates from the the school website. You can read more about their work by clicking the Foundation tab above.

Do you want to know more about this group? The Central Lyon Foundation operates independently of the school district. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine individuals. The Foundation seeks input from school district administration, staff, and the governing board in making distributions of funds, to ensure compatibility with school district objectives.

The Central Lyon Community School District offers career and technical programs in the following areas of study: Business Education, Family & Consumer Sciences Education, Industrial Arts Education and Vocation Agriculture Education. It is the policy of the Central Lyon Community School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, creed, age (for employment), marital status (for programs), sexual orientation, gender identity and socioeconomic status (for programs) in its educational programs and its employment practices.
