CL Bow-Wow Buddies

My students and I are so excited to introduce the newest member of our 2nd grade family and CL staff....Buster.  He will be making his doggy-debut this week to kick-off our administrative approved program, "CL Bow-Wow Buddies".  This program will provide support for students in my classroom by allowing them opportunities to interact with a dog on school premises and will serve to enhance a positive educational experience.  Many of the ideas for this program have been harvested from Okoboji Community schools.  For the past 5 years, they have found great success with their program, "Pioneer Pups."  I have been in contact with their lead teacher, Kristin Johnson, since May and have received wonderful communication and support from her.  Much like Okoboji schools, there is a possibility for our program to grow and expand to other grade levels and staff in the future as well.  For now, Buster's main role in our 2nd grade classroom will be to lend an ear to my students during Reading times.  As most dogs naturally do, he will also provide support, comfort, and unconditional love.

He is 6 years old, a teddy bear (shih tzu/bichon mix), up-to-date on shots, hypoallergenic, and very friendly with people and other pets.  His fluffy brother and sister, Boomer and Ava, are also "in-training" for possible visits as well.
Please stay tuned for occasional "pup"-dates as we enjoy piloting "CL Bow-Wow Buddies" in our classroom!
