HAP

Human Anatomy and Physiology

In HAP we learn anatomy (pieces and parts) and physiology (function).  This class has a lot of terminology and memorization but is very helpful for any student who plans to go into any sort of health care, from doctor to sports training.

We will learn all the bones in the body, lots of muscles, and the function of several of the 11 organ systems in the human body.  It is always fascinating to learn how all the parts work together to get the job done.

We now have an Anatomage table in the class room. It is a digital dissection table that is absolutely amazing. So far we have used it for showing the bones as we learn the skeletal system. The possibilities are endless, we can look at human bodies, animals, scans of many different types of problems, even mummies. We are able to move the table throughout the building so all teachers have the ability to use it in their room.

The cadaver lab trip is scheduled for Monday the 29th of April. We will return to Dordt this year and the students are excited about the visit. The facilities are very nice and the staff give a great tour. It is a great way for the students to experience a small part of what it will be like to study in the health field in college.
